Monday's Powerball jackpot goes to $179,000,000; 1 second prize ticket sold

The grand prize in America's favorite Powerball lottery game continues to move up exciting players all across the country. Since no player correctly hit all five white ball numbers plus the Powerball number in Monday's drawing the jackpot will roll up to a projected $179,000,000! The lump-sum cash payout stands at an estimated $$92 million. The numbers from Saturday, May 20th, 2023 drawing were 17-23-32-38-63 and Powerball was 23. There was no jackpot winning ticket sold in the past 293 draws since Wednesday, June 16th, 2021. The last jackpot was won by a lucky ticket sold in , matched all six numbers for a $31.00 million top prize.
While there was no grand prize winner Saturday evening, Powerball had some huge winners. There was only one lucky winner matched the first five white ball numbers but missed Powerball number, which won the second prize. The 1 second prize ticket(s) from Kansas matched all 5 white ball numbers and also bought Power Play, which doubled the prize to $2,000,000 cash win!
Additional prizes won Saturday night included 9 tickets that matched 4 white numbers as well as the Powerball and won $10,000. 3 additional tickets at this prize level were also wisely bought with the Power Play option that multiplied winnings 4 times to $40,000 cash!
With nine different prize tiers, there were 545,151 tickets across the nation won a total of $0 prizes in the Saturday, May 20th, 2023 drawing.
Powerball is played in 42 states, D.C. and the US Virgin Islands. Powerball drawings occur 2 times a week every Wednesday and Saturday night at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time. To play Powerball, choose 5 numbers from 1 to 69 then pick one Powerball number from 1 to 26. The odds of winning is about 1 to 32. The chances of matching 6 Powerball numbers are about 1 in 292 million. The minimum Powerball grand prize starts at $40,000,000. Its annuity option is paid in 30 graduated installments in 29 years. Winners may select one-time lump-sum cash payout instead.
