Powerball jackpot moves to $59 million Monday, May 9th, 2022; 1 player matched the first 5 numbers

The grand prize in the Powerball multistate lottery game keeps going up and will be up to $59 million for the next drawing on Monday. The cash value stands at an estimated $33.9 million up for grab. The amount was rolled over since nobody hit all six winning numbers to win the $51 million grand prize Saturday night. The numbers from Saturday, May 7th, 2022 drawing were 04-05-06-28-67 and Powerball number was 10.
While the grand prize was not hit Saturday evening, some players still walked away with large winnings. There was a sole ticket that correctly matched the first 5 lotto numbers and won the second prize. The 1 second prize winning ticket(s) bought in Georgia will collect $1,000,000 cash.
In addition, 12 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers, as well as the Powerball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000. There were 8 tickets matched 4+1 with Power Play option, multiplying the winnings by 4 for a total win of $40,000 each! Other winners Saturday night included 327 tickets that matched 4 white ball numbers and won $100. 123 additional players not just matched 4 white ball, and also bought the Power Play option, double the prizes to a total win of $200 each! Additional prizes won Saturday evening included 837 tickets that matched 3 white numbers together with Powerball and won $100. 309 additional tickets of this prize level were also bought with the Power Play option that doubled winnings to $200 cash.
With nine prize tiers, the Saturday night's drawing generated 496,058 winning tickets nationwide with a total amount of $0 prizes.
America's favorite Powerball game is played in 42 states, D.C. and the US Virgin Islands. Powerball drawings are held 2 times a week every Wednesday and Saturday night at 10:59 PM Eastern Time. Powerball uses a 5/69 (white balls) + 1/26 (Powerballs) system from which winning numbers are chosen. Each play costs $2. Players can choose to pay 1 extra dollar to buy the Power Play, which increases the original prizes except jackpot. The overall odds of winning any prizes is about 1 to 32. The odds of matching 6 Powerball numbers are 1 to 292,201,338. The minimum Powerball advertised jackpot starts at $40,000,000. Its annuity option is paid in 30 graduated payments. Winners may choose one-time lump-sum cash payout option instead.
