Nobody hit the jackpot last night. Mega Millions jackpot goes to $68 million

Wall Street is not the only place where fortunes are made and lost these days. One fortune will be up for grabs on Friday, when Mega Millions has $68 million on the line. The lump-sum cash payout stands at an estimated $53.9 million up for grab. Mega Millions' grand prize rose since no one matched all five lotto numbers and the Mega Ball number drawn Tuesday night. The winning numbers from Tuesday, August 25th, 2020 drawing were 08-10-15-17-57 and the Mega Ball was 12, Megaplier was 3. There was no jackpot winning ticket sold in the past 715 draws since Friday, October 4th, 2013.A single lucky winner from Maryland won the $189 million top prize in Tuesday, October 1st, 2013 drawing.
Although there was no grand prize winner Tuesday evening, some people still walked away with large winnings. There were a total of 14 third prize lucky winners. Among them, 14 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers, as well as the Mega Ball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000.
Additional prizes won Tuesday evening included 335 tickets that matched 4 white numbers and won $500. Other prizes won included 820 tickets that matched 3 white numbers plus the Mega Ball and won $200.
With 9 prize tiers, there were 1,032,724 winning tickets sold nationwide in the Tuesday, August 25th, 2020 drawing.
Mega Millions game is played in 43 states and Washington DC. It holds the record biggest jackpot of $656 million in U.S. lottery history. About 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back for the players through prize winnings. Roughly 15% goes to commission of retailers and lottery operating costs. About 35% total sales is used to support government services, education and charities in the participating lottery states. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to spend $1 extra to buy the Megaplier, which multiplies the original winnings 2 to 5 times except grand prize. The minimum Mega Millions advertised jackpot starts at 40 million dollar. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal yearly installments. Winners can choose one lump-sum cash payout option instead.
