Mega Millions jackpot increases to $453,000,000 Friday, May 24th, 2024; One second prize ticket sold

The Mega Millions grand prize is on the move again. The jackpot for the Friday, May 24th, 2024 drawing jumps to $453,000,000 with the lump-sum cash payout at $$211.3 million. The numbers from Tuesday, May 21st, 2024 drawing were 02-05-08-28-69 with Mega Ball number 14 and Megaplier x2. The Mega Millions jackpot has been rolling over for 16 draws since Friday, March 29th, 2024.One lucky winner from NJ won the $0 million grand prize in Tuesday, March 26th, 2024 drawing.

Even though the jackpot was not awarded Tuesday evening, some players still walked away with large winnings. There was a sole lucky winner matched all five numbers but missed Mega Ball number, which won the 2nd prize. The one lucky ticket(s) purchased in CA, each won one quarter million dollar cash by matching all 5 white ball numbers.

Also, 23 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers, as well as the Mega Ball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000. Additional prizes won Tuesday evening included 622 tickets that matched four white ball numbers and won $500. 1333 tickets matched three of the five lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. These tickets are also each worth $200.

With nine different prize levels, there were a total of 1,613,100 winning tickets sold nationwide in the Tuesday, May 21st, 2024 drawing.

Mega Millions lottery can be played in 43 states and D.C. It holds the record largest jackpot of $656 million in North American lottery history. Roughly 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back to the players in prizes. Around 15% is used to as commission of retailers and lottery operation expenses. Roughly 35% total sales is used in government services, education and charities in the participating states. Mega Millions drawings occur 2 times a week every Tuesday and Friday night at 10:59 PM Eastern Time. Mega Millions uses a 5/70 (white balls) + 1/25 (Mega Balls) matrix to randomly pick winning numbers. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to spend $1 extra to buy the Megaplier, which multiplies the original prizes 2 to 5 times except jackpot. The chances of winning any prizes is about 1 to 14. The chances of winning Mega Millions grand prize are about 1 in 302 million. The minimum Mega Millions advertised jackpot starts at $40 million. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual installments. Winners can choose one lump sum cash payout option instead.
