Mega Millions jackpot increases to $430 million Friday, May 14th, 2021; 2 tickets won the second prize

The jackpot for Friday Mega Millions rolled up to $430 million (cash value $291.1 million) after no player hit all 5 white ball numbers plus the Mega Ball number Tuesday night. The numbers from Tuesday, May 11th, 2021 drawing were 07, 08, 20, 36, 39 and the Mega Ball was 22, Megaplier was 3.
While the jackpot was not hit Tuesday evening, some players still walked away with huge pile of cash. There were 2 lucky tickets correctly matched the first 5 white ball numbers but missed Mega Ball number, which won the 2nd prize. The 2 second prize winning ticket(s) purchased in will collect a quarter million dollar cash each.
Other prizes won Tuesday night included 25 tickets that matched 4 white numbers in addition to the Mega Ball and won $10,000. Additional prizes won Tuesday night included 707 tickets that matched four lotto numbers and won $500. 1785 tickets matched three of the five lotto numbers, as well as the Mega Ball number. These tickets are also each worth $200.
There were 198,248 Mega Millions winning tickets sold in the state of New York. There were 99124 jackpot winning tickets sold in the state of New York. There was a single lucky New Yorker matched 4 lotto numbers and also the Mega Ball and won $1,000,000.

Mega Millions is a consortium of 44 state lotteries. About 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back to the players in prize winnings. Approximately 15% is used to as retailer commissions and lottery operation expenses. Roughly 35% total sales is used to support government services, education and charities in the member lottery states. To play Mega Millions, pick 5 numbers from a set of 70 then pick a Mega Ball number from 1 to 25. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to spend $1 extra to buy the Megaplier option, which multiplies the winnings 2 to 5 times except jackpot. The overall chances of winning any prizes is about 1 to 14. The chances of matching all six Mega Millions numbers are 1 to 302,575,350. The minimum Mega Millions grand prize starts at $40,000,000. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual installments. Winners can select one time lump-sum cash payout instead.
