Mega Millions jackpot climbs to $324,000,000 Friday; 1 ticket matched the first 5 numbers

There has been another carry over in the jackpot for the multistate Mega Millions - to $324,000,000. The cash option will be a projected $$150.6 million up for grab. The jackpot grew since no one matched all six numbers from Tuesday night's $301,000,000 drawing. The numbers from Tuesday, March 18th, 2025 drawing were 27, 28, 31, 32, 33 with Mega Ball 24 and Megaplier 3. Nobody won the Mega Millions jackpot in the past seventeen draws since Tuesday, January 21st, 2025.The last jackpot was won by a single ticket sold in AZ, matched all six numbers for a $0 million top prize.
While there was no grand prize winner Tuesday evening, Mega Millions did produce some big winners. There was a single lucky player that matched the first 5 lotto numbers and won the 2nd prize. The 1 second prize winning ticket(s) bought in CA won a quarter million dollar cash each.
Additional prizes won Tuesday night included 12 tickets that matched four white ball numbers as well as the Mega Ball and won $10,000. Mega Millions is an U.S. popular lottery game sold in 44 lottery jurisdictions as a pari-mutuel jackpot game. Around 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back on the players through prize winnings. About 15% goes to retailer commissions and lottery operation expenses. Approximately 35% total sales is used in government services, education and charities in the member lottery states. Mega Millions drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday at 10:59 PM Eastern Time. Mega Millions uses a 5/70 (white balls) + 1/25 (Mega Balls) matrix from which winning numbers are chosen. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to pay $1 extra to purchase the Megaplier, which multiplies the original prizes 2 to 5 times but not jackpot. The minimum Mega Millions jackpot starts at $40 million. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal yearly payments. Winners can select one lump sum cash payout option instead.
