No one matched all six numbers. Friday's Mega Millions jackpot rolls up to $79 million

The grand prize in the Mega Millions multi-state lottery game has been increased to $79 million. The lump-sum cash payout will be $54.4 million. The prize amount was rolled over since nobody matched all six numbers in Tuesday's $68 million drawing. The next Mega Millions lottery drawing is Friday night. The winning numbers from Tuesday, March 9th, 2021 drawing were 04-33-46-58-65 and the Mega Ball was 13, Megaplier was 2.
Even though there was no grand prize winner Tuesday evening, Mega Millions did produce some big winners. There were a total of 9 third prize winning tickets. Among them, 9 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000.
Additional prizes won Tuesday evening included 214 tickets that matched 4 lotto numbers and won $500. Other prizes won included 675 tickets that matched 3 white numbers together with Mega Ball and won $200.
There were 95,342 Mega Millions winning tickets sold in the state of New York. There were 47671 top prize winning tickets sold in the state of New York.
With nine different prize levels, there were 1,189,104 winning tickets sold across the nation in the Tuesday, March 9th, 2021 drawing.
Mega Millions is played in 43 states and Washington DC. Approximately 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back to the players in prizes. Around 15% goes to commission of retailers and lottery operation expenses. Roughly 35% total sales is used to support government services, education and charities in the member states. Mega Millions drawings occur every Tuesday and Friday night at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time. To play Mega Millions, pick 5 numbers from 1 to 70 and choose 1 Mega Ball number from a set of 25. The minimum Mega Millions advertised jackpot is $40 million. Its annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual payments. Winners may choose one-time lump sum cash payout instead.
