The jackpot for Friday's Mega Millions drawing soars to $687,000,000

The grand prize in America's favorite Mega Millions lottery game continues to go up exciting players all across the nation. Because no one correctly hit all five lotto numbers and the Mega Ball number in Friday's drawing the jackpot will rise to a projected $687,000,000! The lump-sum cash payout will be an estimated $$332.3 million. The numbers from Tuesday, March 5th, 2024 drawing were 02-49-50-61-70 and the Mega Ball was 14, Megaplier was 2. The Mega Millions jackpot has been growing for 25 draws since Tuesday, December 12th, 2023.
Though there was no grand prize winner Tuesday evening, Mega Millions did produce some big winners. There were 2 lucky players that correctly matched the first five white ball numbers and won the second prize. The 2 second prize winning ticket(s) purchased in CA,MI won $1,000,000 cash each.
Other major winners Tuesday evening included 19 tickets that matched 4 white ball numbers plus the Mega Ball and won $10,000. Additional prizes won Tuesday evening included 538 tickets that matched four white numbers and won $500. 1444 tickets matched three of the five lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. These tickets are also each worth $200.
There were 204,958 Mega Millions winning tickets sold in the state of New York. There were 102479 jackpot winning tickets sold in the state of New York.

Mega Millions is a consortium involving 44 state lotteries. It holds the record largest jackpot of $656 million in U.S. lottery history. Approximately 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back on the players in prize winnings. Approximately 15% goes to commission of retailers and lottery operating costs. About 35% total sales is used in government services, education and charities in the member states. Mega Millions drawings occur every Tuesday and Friday night at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to pay 1 extra dollar to purchase the Megaplier, which multiplies the prizes 2 to 5 times except grand prize. The overall chances of winning any prizes is about 1 to 14. The chances of matching 6 Mega Millions numbers are about 1 in 302 million. The minimum Mega Millions grand prize is $40 million. Its annuity option is paid in 30 equal yearly payments. Winners may choose one-time lump-sum cash payout instead.
