Nobody matched all six numbers. Mega Millions jackpot goes to $40 million Tuesday

Wall Street is not the only place where fortunes are made and lost these days. One fortune is going to be up for grabs on Tuesday, when Mega Millions has $40 million on the line. The lump-sum cash payout will be a projected $28.2 million. Mega Millions' jackpot went up because no player matched all 5 white ball numbers plus the Mega Ball number drawn Friday night. The winning numbers drawn Friday night, June 18th, 2021 were 14-36-44-46-53 and the Mega Ball was 18, Megaplier was 2. The Mega Millions grand prize has been growing for 800 draws since Friday, October 4th, 2013.One lucky player from Maryland walked away with $189 million grand prize in Tuesday, October 1st, 2013 drawing.
Though there was no grand prize winner Friday evening, Mega Millions had some big winners. There were a total of 6 third prize lucky winning tickets. These included 6 tickets that matched 4 white numbers in addition to the Mega Ball and won $10,000.
Additional winners Friday evening included 213 tickets that matched four white ball numbers and won $500. There were 613 tickets that correctly matched three white ball numbers as well as the Mega Ball and also won $200.
There were 71,388 Mega Millions winning tickets sold in the state of New York. There were 35694 top prize winning tickets sold in the state of New York.
With nine ways to win, there were 909,440 winning tickets sold nationwide in the Friday, June 18th, 2021 drawing.
Mega Millions is an U.S. popular lottery game offered in 44 participating states as a pari-mutuel jackpot game. It holds the record largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history. About 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back on the players in prize winnings. Around 15% goes to commission of retailers and lottery operation expenses. Roughly 35% total sales is used to support government services, education and charities in the member lottery states. Mega Millions drawings occur every Tuesday and Friday at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to spend 1 extra dollar to buy the Megaplier, which multiplies the original winnings 2 to 5 times but not jackpot. The minimum Mega Millions advertised jackpot is $40 million. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal yearly payments. Winners may choose one lump sum cash payout option instead.
