Mega Millions jackpot rises to $358,000,000; 2 tickets won the second prize

The Mega Millions lottery jackpot is on the move again. The jackpot for the Friday, August 2nd, 2024 drawing rises to $358,000,000 with the lump-sum cash payout of $$169.7 million. The numbers from Tuesday night, July 30th, 2024 were 19-23-30-33-50 and the Mega Ball was 25, Megaplier was 2. Nobody won the Mega Millions jackpot in the past sixteen draws since Friday, June 7th, 2024.The last jackpot was won by one lucky ticket sold in IL, matched all six numbers for a $560 million top prize.

While the jackpot was not awarded Tuesday evening, some players still walked away with big money. There were 2 2nd prize winners from Tuesday night's drawing, matching all five white ball numbers but not the Mega Ball number. The 2 lucky ticket(s) sold in IL,TX, each won $1,000,000 cash by matching all 5 white ball numbers.

Other prizes won Tuesday night included 16 tickets that matched 4 white numbers together with Mega Ball and won $10,000. Other winners Tuesday night included 338 tickets that matched 4 white ball numbers and won $500. There were 1001 tickets that correctly matched three white ball numbers as well as the Mega Ball and also won $200.

With nine different prize levels, there were a total of 1,398,202 winning tickets sold across the nation in the Tuesday, July 30th, 2024 drawing.

Mega Millions game can be played in 43 states and Washington DC. Roughly 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back on the players in prizes. Around 15% is used to as retailer commissions and lottery operation expenses. Around 35% total sales is used in government services, education and charities in the participating lottery states. Mega Millions drawings occur every Tuesday and Friday night at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to spend 1 extra dollar to purchase the Megaplier option, which multiplies the original winnings 2 to 5 times but not jackpot. The chances of winning is about 1 to 14. The odds of matching 6 Mega Millions numbers are about 1 in 302 million. The minimum Mega Millions jackpot starts at $40 million. Its annuity option is paid in 30 equal yearly installments. Winners may select one lump-sum cash payout instead.
