Enormous Mega Millions jackpot up for grabs Tuesday night

Wall Street is not the only place where fortunes are made and lost these days. One fortune is going to be up for grabs on Tuesday, when Mega Millions game has $331,000,000 on the line. The cash option stands at an estimated $$156.2 million. Mega Millions' jackpot rose since no one matched all five white ball numbers plus the Mega Ball number drawn Friday night. The numbers from Friday night, July 26th, 2024 were 02, 14, 33, 58, 65 with Mega Ball number 03 and Megaplier 3. Nobody won the Mega Millions grand prize in the past 15 draws since Friday, June 7th, 2024.One lucky winner from IL walked away with $560 million top prize in Tuesday, June 4th, 2024 drawing.
Even though there was no grand prize winner Friday evening, some players still walked away with large winnings. There were three tickets that matched all five lotto numbers and won the second prize. The three lucky ticket(s) purchased in CA,IL,NJ, each won one quarter million dollar cash by matching all 5 white ball numbers.
Also, 12 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000. Also, 339 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers. Those tickets are each worth $500. Other prizes won included 845 tickets that matched 3 white numbers together with Mega Ball and won $200.
With nine prize tiers, there were 1,447,926 winning tickets sold nationwide in the Friday, July 26th, 2024 drawing.
Mega Millions lottery is played in 43 states and Washington DC. It holds the record largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history. About 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back to the players through prizes. Roughly 15% is used to as retailer commissions and lottery operation expenses. Around 35% total sales is used to support government services, education and charities in the member states. Mega Millions drawings occur every Tuesday and Friday night at 10:59 PM Eastern Time. Mega Millions uses a 5/70 (white balls) + 1/25 (Mega Balls) matrix to randomly choose winning numbers. The minimum Mega Millions advertised jackpot is $40 million. Its annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual payments. Winners may choose one time lump sum cash payout instead.
