Mega Millions jackpot goes to $70,000,000 Tuesday; 1 ticket won the second prize

Tuesday's Mega Millions lottery grand prize is going to be worth a projected $70,000,000 (lump-sum cash payout $$31.3 million), because no one matched all 6 numbers in Friday night's drawing. The numbers drawn Friday night, July 4th, 2025 were 17, 20, 24, 41, 42 with Mega Ball number 24 and Megaplier .

Although there was no grand prize winner Friday evening, some players still walked away with huge pile of cash. There was a sole 2nd prize winning ticket from Friday night's Mega Millions drawing, matching the first five numbers except the Mega Ball number. The 1 second prize winning ticket(s) purchased in GA won a quarter million dollar cash each.

In addition, 6 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000. In addition, 99 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers. Those tickets are each worth $500. 323 tickets matched three of the five lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. These tickets are also each worth $200.

With nine prize tiers, there were a total of 380,644 winning tickets sold across U.S. in the Friday, July 4th, 2025 drawing.

Mega Millions is a consortium involving 44 state lotteries. Roughly 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back towards the players in prize winnings. Roughly 15% is used to as commission of retailers and lottery operation expenses. Around 35% total sales is used in government services, education and charities in the member states. The minimum Mega Millions jackpot is 40 million dollar. Its annuity option is paid in 30 equal yearly installments. Winners can choose one time lump sum cash payout instead.
