Tuesday's Mega Millions jackpot rolls up to $70,000,000; One second prize ticket sold

The projected jackpot for Friday night's drawing was $60,000,000. According to official Mega Millions, no player hit every number and the grand prize rised to $70,000,000. The cash value will be an estimated $$31.3 million. The numbers drawn Friday night, July 4th, 2025 were 17-20-24-41-42 and the Mega Ball was 24, Megaplier was . The Mega Millions jackpot has been growing for 29 draws since Friday, March 28th, 2025.The last jackpot was won by a single ticket sold in IL, matched all six numbers for a $344 million top prize.
While the jackpot was not hit Friday evening, Mega Millions did produce some big winners. There was a sole 2nd prize winning ticket from Friday night's drawing, matching all 5 lotto numbers except the Mega Ball number. The one lucky ticket(s) sold in GA, each won $1,000,000 cash by matching all 5 white ball numbers.
Also, 6 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000. Also, 99 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers. Mega Millions is a consortium of 44 state lotteries. Roughly 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back to the players through prizes. Around 15% goes to commission of retailers and lottery operating costs. Roughly 35% total sales is used in government services, education and charities in the member states. Mega Millions game uses a 5/70+1/25 system to randomly choose winning numbers. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to pay 1 extra dollar to buy the Megaplier option, which multiplies the winnings 2 to 5 times but not jackpot. The minimum Mega Millions grand prize starts at $40 million. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual payments. Winners can choose one lump sum cash payout option instead.
