Friday's Mega Millions jackpot increases to $162,000,000; Two players won the second prize

The grand prize in the Mega Millions multistate lottery game keeps climbing and is going to be up to a projected $162,000,000 for the upcoming drawing on Friday. The lump-sum cash payout will be a projected $$74.5 million up for grab. The amount was rolled over because no one matched all five lotto numbers plus the Mega Ball number to win the $137,000,000 grand prize Tuesday night. The winning numbers from Tuesday night, July 2nd, 2024 were 04, 08, 19, 31, 45 with Mega Ball 11 and Megaplier 4. There was no jackpot winning ticket sold in the past eight draws since Friday, June 7th, 2024.One lucky winner from IL won the $560 million grand prize in Tuesday, June 4th, 2024 drawing.
Even though the jackpot was not awarded Tuesday evening, some players still walked away with huge prizes. There were two tickets that matched all 5 white ball numbers and won the 2nd prize. The two second prize winning ticket(s) purchased in CA,TX will collect a quarter million dollar cash each.
Also, 11 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000. Also, 328 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers. Those tickets are each worth $500. Other prizes won included 987 tickets that matched 3 white numbers as well as the Mega Ball and won $200.
With nine prize levels, there were a total of 1,129,916 winning tickets sold nationwide in the Tuesday, July 2nd, 2024 drawing.
Mega Millions is a consortium of 44 state lotteries. Approximately 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back to the players through prizes. Roughly 15% goes to commission of retailers and lottery operating costs. About 35% total sales is used in government services, education and charities in the participating lottery states. Mega Millions drawings occur every Tuesday and Friday night at 10:59 PM Eastern Time. To play Mega Millions, choose 5 numbers from 1 to 70 then choose 1 Mega Ball number from a set of 25. The minimum Mega Millions advertised grand prize is $40,000,000. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal yearly installments. Winners may choose one time lump-sum cash payout option instead.
