The jackpot for Tuesday's Mega Millions drawing skyrockets to $285,000,000

There has been another roll-over in the grand prize for the multistate Mega Millions - to $285,000,000. The lump-sum cash payout stands at $$128.6 million. The grand prize grew since no player hit all six winning numbers from Friday night's $266,000,000 drawing. The numbers from Friday night, January 23rd, 2026 were 30, 42, 49, 53, 66 and the Mega Ball was 04, Megaplier was .
Although there was no jackpot winner Friday evening, some people still walked away with big money. There were two lucky winners matched the first 5 white ball numbers but missed Mega Ball number, which won the 2nd prize. The two second prize winning ticket(s) purchased in won a quarter million dollar cash each.
Other prizes won Friday night included 8 tickets that matched 4 white numbers in addition to the Mega Ball and won $10,000. Also, 100 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers. Those tickets are each worth $500. Other prizes won included 387 tickets that matched 3 white numbers in addition to the Mega Ball and won $200.
With 9 ways to win, there were a total of 536,232 winning tickets sold nationwide in the Friday, January 23rd, 2026 drawing.
Mega Millions is a consortium associated with 44 state lotteries. It holds the record biggest jackpot of $656 million in United States lottery history. Approximately 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back for the players through prize winnings. Approximately 15% is used to as retailer commissions and lottery operation expenses. About 35% total sales is used in government services, education and charities in the participating states. Mega Millions drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday night at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to spend $1 extra to purchase the Megaplier, which multiplies the prizes 2 to 5 times but not grand prize. The overall odds of winning any prizes is about 1 to 14. The chances of matching 6 Mega Millions numbers are about 1 in 302 million. The minimum Mega Millions advertised jackpot starts at 40 million dollar. Its annuity option is paid in 30 equal yearly installments. Winners can select one time lump-sum cash payout instead.
