No jackpot ticket sold. Mega Millions jackpot increases to $285,000,000 Friday night

The grand prize in the Mega Millions multistate lottery game continues moving up and will be up to an estimated $285,000,000 for the upcoming drawing on Friday. The cash value stands at a projected $$135.1 million. The amount was rolled over since no one matched all six numbers to win the $262,000,000 jackpot Tuesday night. The numbers drawn Tuesday night, January 23rd, 2024 were 21, 28, 58, 69, 70 and the Mega Ball was 20, Megaplier was 2.

Though there was no grand prize winner Tuesday evening, Mega Millions had some huge winners. There were a total of 13 third prize lucky winners. Among them, 13 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers, as well as the Mega Ball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000.

Also, 280 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers. Those tickets are each worth $500. 661 tickets matched three of the five lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. These tickets are also each worth $200.

There were 99,452 Mega Millions winning tickets sold in the state of New York. There were 49726 grand prize winning tickets sold in the state of New York.

With nine different ways to win, there were 1,036,152 winning tickets sold across the nation in the Tuesday, January 23rd, 2024 drawing.

Mega Millions is a consortium involving 44 state lotteries. On average, 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back to the players in prizes. Approximately 15% is used to as commission of retailers and lottery operating costs. Roughly 35% total sales is used in government services, education and charities in the member lottery states. Mega Millions drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday at 10:59 PM Eastern Time. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to pay 1 extra dollar to purchase the Megaplier, which multiplies the original winnings 2 to 5 times but not grand prize. The minimum Mega Millions advertised jackpot starts at $40 million. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual installments. Winners may select one-time lump sum cash payout option instead.
