Friday's Mega Millions game jackpot increased to $28,000,000, since no one matched all 5 white ball numbers and the Mega Ball number drawn Tuesday night. The lump-sum cash payout for Friday will be a projected $$12.5 million. Tuesday's $20,000,000 is the total grand prize amount - before taxes - if the prize is taken in annual installments. The numbers from Tuesday, January 21st, 2025 drawing were 27, 30, 56, 64, 65 and the Mega Ball was 22, Megaplier was 4.

Though the grand prize was not hit Tuesday evening, Mega Millions did produce some big winners. 9 third prize winning tickets were sold nationwide. These included 9 tickets that matched four white ball numbers as well as the Mega Ball and won $10,000.

Other prizes won Tuesday night included 134 tickets that matched 4 white numbers and won $500. There were 367 tickets that correctly matched three white ball numbers plus the Mega Ball and also won $200.

There were 58,330 Mega Millions winning tickets sold in the state of New York. There were 29165 jackpot winning tickets sold in the state of New York.

Mega Millions is a consortium associated with 44 state lotteries. It holds the record largest jackpot of $656 million in United States lottery history. About 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back on the players in prizes. Roughly 15% goes to commission of retailers and lottery operation expenses. Around 35% total sales is used to support government services, education and charities in the participating lottery states. Mega Millions drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday night at 10:59 PM Eastern Time. Each play costs $1.
