Tuesday's Mega Millions jackpot leaps to $250,000,000; Two second prize tickets sold

Without a big winner in the last drawing, the Mega Millions multistate lottery game has rolled over the grand prize to $250,000,000 for Tuesday night's drawing. The cash option will be $$113.5 million up for grab. No one hit all five white ball numbers plus the Mega Ball number to win the $230,000,000 grand prize Friday. The next Mega Millions drawing is going to be at 10:59 PM Tuesday night. The winning numbers from Friday, January 16th, 2026 drawing were 02, 22, 33, 42, 67 and the Mega Ball was 01, Megaplier was .
Even though the grand prize was not hit Friday evening, some players still walked away with big money. There were two tickets that correctly matched the first five lotto numbers and won the 2nd prize. The two second prize winning ticket(s) purchased in won a quarter million dollar cash each.
In addition, 11 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000. Also, 131 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers. Those tickets are each worth $500. 370 tickets matched three of the five lotto numbers, as well as the Mega Ball number. These tickets are also each worth $200.
With nine prize levels, there were a total of 465,404 winning tickets sold across U.S. in the Friday, January 16th, 2026 drawing.
Mega Millions is an U.S. popular lottery game can be played in 44 member states as a shared jackpot game. Approximately 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back towards the players through prizes. About 15% goes to retailer commissions and lottery operating costs. Approximately 35% total sales is used to support government services, education and charities in the member states. Mega Millions uses a 5/70 (white balls) + 1/25 (Mega Balls) matrix to randomly choose winning numbers. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to pay 1 extra dollar to purchase the Megaplier option, which multiplies the prizes 2 to 5 times except jackpot. The minimum Mega Millions advertised grand prize starts at $40,000,000. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual installments. Winners can select one time lump sum cash payout option instead.
