The jackpot for Tuesday's Mega Millions drawing soars to $208,000,000

With no winner in the latest draw, the Mega Millions lottery grand prize is going to be worth an estimated $208,000,000 (cash value $$101.5 million) the next time the multistate lottery is drawn on Tuesday. The amount carried over since no one hit all five lotto numbers and the Mega Ball number to win the $187,000,000 jackpot Friday night. The winning numbers from Friday, January 12th, 2024 drawing were 19-34-35-45-67 and the Mega Ball was 07, Megaplier was 3.
While the jackpot was not awarded Friday evening, some people still walked away with huge prizes. A total of 9 lucky tickets won the third prize. Among them, 9 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers, as well as the Mega Ball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000.
Also, 284 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers. Those tickets are each worth $500. Other prizes won included 778 tickets that matched 3 white numbers as well as the Mega Ball and won $200.
There were 125,860 Mega Millions winning tickets sold in the state of New York. There were 62930 jackpot winning tickets sold in the state of New York.
With nine prize tiers, there were 1,375,998 winning tickets sold across U.S. in the Friday, January 12th, 2024 drawing.
Mega Millions is a consortium of 44 state lotteries. On average, 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back towards the players through prize winnings. Around 15% goes to commission of retailers and lottery operating costs. Around 35% total sales is used in government services, education and charities in the member states. Mega Millions drawings occur 2 times a week every Tuesday and Friday night at 10:59 PM Eastern Time. Mega Millions lottery uses a 5/70+1/25 system to randomly choose winning numbers. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to pay 1 extra dollar to buy the Megaplier, which multiplies the original prizes 2 to 5 times except jackpot. The overall odds of winning is about 1 to 14. The odds of matching all six Mega Millions numbers are 1 to 302,575,350. The minimum Mega Millions jackpot is $40,000,000. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual installments. Winners may select one time lump-sum cash payout option instead.
