Friday's Mega Millions jackpot leaps to $30 million; Two second prize tickets sold

The grand prize in the Mega Millions multi-state lottery game has been rolled up to $30 million. The cash value stands at a projected $21 million up for grab. The prize amount was rolled over because no one matched all six numbers in Tuesday's $22 million drawing. The next Mega Millions lottery drawing is Friday night. The numbers drawn Tuesday night, February 23rd, 2021 were 05, 07, 09, 20, 57 with Mega Ball 15 and Megaplier X3. The Mega Millions jackpot has been rolling over for 767 draws since Friday, October 4th, 2013.One lucky winner from Maryland walked away with $189 million top prize in Tuesday, October 1st, 2013 drawing.

While the jackpot was not hit Tuesday evening, some people still walked away with huge pile of cash. There were two tickets that correctly matched all five white ball numbers and won the 2nd prize. The two second prize winning ticket(s) purchased in won a quarter million dollar cash each.

Additional prizes won Tuesday night included 30 tickets that matched four white ball numbers as well as the Mega Ball and won $10,000. In addition, 554 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers. Those tickets are each worth $500. Other prizes won included 1169 tickets that matched 3 white numbers as well as the Mega Ball and won $200.

There were 81,198 Mega Millions winning tickets sold in the state of New York. There were 40599 top prize winning tickets sold in the state of New York.

With nine prize levels, there were a total of 1,032,624 winning tickets sold nationwide in the Tuesday, February 23rd, 2021 drawing.

Mega Millions is played in 43 states and D.C. Mega Millions drawings occur 2 times a week every Tuesday and Friday at 10:59 PM Eastern Time. Mega Millions uses a 5/70 (white balls) + 1/25 (Mega Balls) matrix to randomly pick winning numbers. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to pay $1 extra to buy the Megaplier, which multiplies the prizes 2 to 5 times except grand prize. The minimum Mega Millions advertised jackpot is $40,000,000. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual payments. Winners may select one time lump sum cash payout option instead.
