The jackpot for Tuesday's Mega Millions drawing soars to $493,000,000

Wall Street is not the only place where fortunes are made and lost these days. One fortune will be up for grabs on Tuesday, when Mega Millions lottery has $493,000,000 on the line. The lump-sum cash payout stands at a projected $$231.1 million up for grab. Mega Millions' jackpot increased because nobody matched all 6 numbers drawn Friday night. The winning numbers from Friday night, February 16th, 2024 were 19-23-39-42-67 and the Mega Ball was 18, Megaplier was 4. The Mega Millions grand prize has been growing for 20 draws since Tuesday, December 12th, 2023.
Though there was no jackpot winner Friday evening, Mega Millions did produce some big winners. A total of 16 lucky players won the 3rd prize. These included 16 tickets that matched four white ball numbers plus the Mega Ball and won $10,000.
Additional prizes won Friday evening included 417 tickets that matched four white ball numbers and won $500. There were 993 tickets that matched 3 white ball numbers plus the Mega Ball and also won $200.
There were 140,752 Mega Millions winning tickets sold in the state of New York. There were 70376 jackpot winning tickets sold in the state of New York.

Mega Millions is played in 43 states and D.C. It holds the record biggest jackpot of $656 million in U.S. lottery history. Roughly 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back to the players in prize winnings. Around 15% is used to as commission of retailers and lottery operation expenses. Around 35% total sales is used to support government services, education and charities in the member states. To play, pick 5 numbers from a set of 70 then select one Mega Ball number from a set of 25. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to spend $1 extra to buy the Megaplier option, which multiplies the original prizes 2 to 5 times but not jackpot. The overall odds of winning is about 1 to 14.
