Mega Millions jackpot goes to $670,000,000 Friday night; Three players won the second prize

There has been another roll-over in the grand prize for the multistate Mega Millions lottery - to $670,000,000. The cash value will be $$317.8 million. The jackpot grew because nobody matched all five lotto numbers and the Mega Ball number from Tuesday night's $619,000,000 drawing. The numbers from Tuesday night, December 10th, 2024 were 12, 14, 26, 48, 52 with Mega Ball 21 and Megaplier 5.

Though the grand prize was not awarded Tuesday evening, Mega Millions did produce some big winners. There were three lucky tickets correctly matched all five numbers but missed Mega Ball number, which won the 2nd prize. The three lucky ticket(s) sold in CA(2),MD, each won $1,000,000 cash by matching all 5 white ball numbers.

Other prizes won Tuesday evening included 23 tickets that matched 4 white numbers plus the Mega Ball and won $10,000. Other winners Tuesday night included 640 tickets that matched 4 white ball numbers and won $500. Other prizes won included 1569 tickets that matched 3 white numbers plus the Mega Ball and won $200.

There were 196,640 Mega Millions winning tickets sold in the state of New York. There were 98320 grand prize winning tickets sold in the state of New York.

With 9 prize levels, there were 2,337,444 winning tickets sold across the nation in the Tuesday, December 10th, 2024 drawing.

Mega Millions is a consortium of 44 state lotteries. It holds the record biggest jackpot in North American lottery history. Approximately 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back on the players in prize winnings. About 15% goes to retailer commissions and lottery operation expenses. Around 35% total sales is used in government services, education and charities in the participating lottery states. Mega Millions game uses a 5/70+1/25 matrix from which winning numbers are chosen. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to spend 1 extra dollar to purchase the Megaplier option, which multiplies the original prizes 2 to 5 times except grand prize. The minimum Mega Millions grand prize is 40 million dollar. Its annuity option is paid in 30 equal yearly installments. Winners may select one-time lump-sum cash payout instead.
