Massive Mega Millions jackpot up for grabs Tuesday night

With no winner in the last draw, the Mega Millions lottery jackpot is going to be worth $253,000,000 (cash value $$113.8 million) the next time the multistate lottery is played on Tuesday. The amount carried over because nobody hit all five white ball numbers plus the Mega Ball number to win the $234,000,000 grand prize Friday night. The winning numbers from Friday, August 22nd, 2025 drawing were 18, 30, 44, 48, 50 and the Mega Ball was 12, Megaplier was . The Mega Millions jackpot has been rolling over for 43 draws since Friday, March 28th, 2025.A single lucky winner from IL won the $344 million jackpot in Tuesday, March 25th, 2025 drawing.
Even though the jackpot was not hit Friday evening, Mega Millions did produce some big winners. There was only one 2nd prize winning ticket from Friday night's Mega Millions drawing, matching the first five lotto numbers except the Mega Ball number. The one lucky ticket(s) purchased in NC, each won $1,000,000 cash by matching all 5 white ball numbers.
Other prizes won Friday evening included 3 tickets that matched 4 white numbers in addition to the Mega Ball and won $10,000. In addition, 138 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers. Those tickets are each worth $500. Other prizes won included 384 tickets that matched 3 white numbers plus the Mega Ball and won $200.
With nine different prize levels, there were a total of 535,125 winning tickets sold nationwide in the Friday, August 22nd, 2025 drawing.
Mega Millions lottery is played in 43 states and Washington DC. Around 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back for the players in prize winnings. Approximately 15% goes to retailer commissions and lottery operation expenses. Roughly 35% total sales is used to support government services, education and charities in the participating states. To play Mega Millions, select 5 numbers from a set of 70 then choose one Mega Ball number from a set of 25. The overall odds of winning any prizes is about 1 to 14. The odds of matching 6 Mega Millions numbers are 1 to 302,575,350. The minimum Mega Millions advertised grand prize is $40,000,000. Its annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual payments. Winners can choose one-time lump-sum cash payout instead.
