No one hit the jackpot. Friday's Mega Millions jackpot rolls up to $178,000,000

The Mega Millions jackpot has jumped up to a projected $178,000,000 (lump-sum cash payout $$79.6 million) for the next drawing in the multistate lottery game Friday night. The jackpot amount has been rolled over since nobody hit all six winning numbers to take the $148,000,000 grand prize Tuesday night. The numbers from Tuesday, April 16th, 2024 drawing were 21, 26, 36, 44, 59 with Mega Ball 02 and Megaplier X4.

Though there was no jackpot winner Tuesday evening, some people still walked away with large winnings. A total of 12 lucky players won the third prize. These included 12 tickets that matched four white ball numbers as well as the Mega Ball and won $10,000.

Other winners Tuesday evening included 277 tickets that matched four lotto numbers and won $500. Other prizes won included 756 tickets that matched 3 white numbers plus the Mega Ball and won $200.

With 9 ways to win, there were a total of 1,184,386 winning tickets sold nationwide in the Tuesday, April 16th, 2024 drawing.

Mega Millions can be played in 43 states and D.C. It holds the record highest jackpot of $656 million in United States lottery history. Mega Millions lottery uses a 5/70 (white balls) + 1/25 (Mega Balls) matrix from which winning numbers are chosen. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to pay $1 extra to buy the Megaplier option, which multiplies the prizes 2 to 5 times except grand prize. The odds of winning any prizes is about 1 to 14. The odds of matching all six Mega Millions numbers are 1 to 302,575,350. The minimum Mega Millions jackpot starts at $40 million. Its annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual installments. Winners can select one lump sum cash payout option instead.
