The jackpot for Tuesday's Mega Millions drawing soars to $257 million

The jackpot in America's favorite Mega Millions lottery game continues to go up exciting players all across the country. Because no player correctly matched all 5 lotto numbers and the Mega Ball number in Tuesday's drawing the jackpot will grow to an estimated $257 million! The cash value stands at an estimated $175.9 million. The numbers drawn Friday night, April 16th, 2021 were 17-27-28-50-55 with Mega Ball number 25 and Megaplier x4. The Mega Millions jackpot has been growing for 782 draws since Friday, October 4th, 2013.A single lucky player from Maryland walked away with $189 million grand prize in Tuesday, October 1st, 2013 drawing.
While the grand prize was not hit Friday evening, Mega Millions did produce some big winners. There was a single lucky winner correctly matched all five numbers but missed Mega Ball number, which won the second prize. The 1 second prize winning ticket(s) purchased in won $1,000,000 cash each.
Additional prizes won Friday night included 16 tickets that matched 4 white numbers as well as the Mega Ball and won $10,000. Additional prizes won Friday evening included 444 tickets that matched 4 white numbers and won $500. 1180 tickets matched 3 of the 5 lotto numbers, as well as the Mega Ball number. These tickets are also each worth $200.

Mega Millions is a consortium involving 44 state lotteries. It holds the record largest jackpot in North American lottery history. Approximately 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back towards the players through prizes. Approximately 15% is used to as commission of retailers and lottery operating costs. About 35% total sales is used in government services, education and charities in the participating lottery states. Mega Millions drawings are held 2 times a week every Tuesday and Friday at 10:59 PM Eastern Time. To play Mega Millions, select 5 numbers from a set of 70 and pick a Mega Ball number from a set of 25. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to spend $1 extra to purchase the Megaplier option, which multiplies the original winnings 2 to 5 times except grand prize. The odds of winning any prizes is about 1 to 14. The odds of matching all six Mega Millions numbers are 1 to 302,575,350. The minimum Mega Millions advertised grand prize is $40,000,000. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal yearly installments. Winners can choose one time lump-sum cash payout instead.
