Powerball jackpot goes to $28,000,000; 1 ticket matched the first five numbers

With no winner in the last drawing, the Powerball game grand prize will be worth an estimated $28,000,000 (cash option $$13.4 million) the next time the multistate lottery is played on Monday. The amount carried over because no one matched all 5 white ball numbers and the Powerball number to win the $20,000,000 jackpot Saturday night. The winning numbers from Saturday, October 26th, 2024 drawing were 08, 12, 40, 45, 51 with Power Ball 15.
Though the jackpot was not hit Saturday evening, Powerball had some huge winners. There was a sole ticket that correctly matched the first 5 white ball numbers and won the 2nd prize. The one lucky ticket(s) sold in MO, each won 1 million dollar cash by matching all 5 white ball numbers.
Additional prizes won Saturday night included 3 tickets that matched 4 white ball numbers plus the Powerball and won $10,000. There were 4 tickets matched 4+1 with Power Play option, multiplying the prizes by 4 for a total win of $40,000 each! Other prizes won Saturday evening included 188 tickets that matched 4 white numbers and won $100. 80 additional tickets at this prize level were also wisely bought with the Power Play option that doubled the prize to $200 cash! Other prizes won Saturday evening included 495 tickets that matched 3 white numbers as well as the Powerball and won $100. 191 additional tickets of this prize level were also purchased with the Power Play option that doubled the prize to $200 cash.
With nine ways to win, the Saturday night's drawing produced 395,870 winning tickets across the nation with a total amount of $0 prizes.
Powerball is played in 42 states, D.C. and the US Virgin Islands. Powerball drawings occur every Wednesday and Saturday night at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time. Each play costs $2. Players can choose to spend 1 extra dollar to buy the Power Play option, which increases the original winnings except jackpot. The minimum Powerball jackpot starts at $40,000,000. Its annuity option is paid in 30 yearly increment installments in 29 years. Winners may choose one lump sum cash payout instead.
