Monday's Powerball jackpot goes to $88,000,000; One second prize ticket sold

The Powerball lottery jackpot increased since no player hit all five lotto numbers and the Powerball number from Saturday night's $77,000,000 drawing. The next grand prize moved to $88,000,000 for Monday night's drawing. The cash value stands at a projected $$41.4 million. The winning numbers drawn Saturday night, May 18th, 2024 were 19-36-37-42-59 and Powerball was 19.
Even though the grand prize was not awarded Saturday evening, Powerball had some huge winners. There was a single 2nd prize winner from Saturday night's Powerball drawing, matching the first 5 white ball numbers except the Powerball number. The one lucky ticket(s) bought in CA, each won 1 million dollar cash by matching all 5 white ball numbers.
Additional major winners Saturday night included 10 tickets that matched four white ball numbers as well as the Powerball and won $10,000. 2 additional tickets of this prize level were also wisely bought with the Power Play option that multiplied winnings 4 times to $40,000 cash! Additional winners Saturday night included 211 tickets that matched 4 white ball numbers and won $100. 82 additional players not just matched 4 white ball, but in addition chose the Power Play option, double the winnings to a total win of $200 each! There were 3 lucky New Yorkers matched 4 white ball numbers plus the Powerball and won $10,000. 70 tickets were sold in the state of New York which matched either 4 or 3+1 numbers. The lucky ticket holders will receive $100 each. 11 tickets were sold in the state of New York which matched either 4 or 3+1 numbers with Power Play. The lucky ticket holders will receive $200 each.

Powerball game can be played in 42 states, D.C. and the US Virgin Islands. Powerball uses a 5/69 (white balls) + 1/26 (Powerballs) matrix from which winning numbers are chosen. Each play costs $2. Players can choose to pay 1 extra dollar to purchase the Power Play, which increases the prizes but not grand prize. The odds of winning is about 1 to 32.
