Powerball jackpot climbs to $183 million; Two players matched the first five numbers

The projected grand prize for Wednesday night's drawing was $168 million. According to Powerball, no one hit every number and the jackpot climbed to an estimated $183 million. The cash value stands at a projected $127.4 million up for grab. The numbers from Wednesday night, May 12th, 2021 were 01, 19, 20, 38, 54 and Powerball number was 17. The Powerball jackpot has been rolling over for 130 draws since Saturday, February 15th, 2020. The last jackpot was won by one lucky ticket sold in Michigan, matched all six numbers for a $70.00 million top prize.
Though the grand prize was not awarded Wednesday evening, some players still walked away with huge prizes. There were two lucky tickets correctly matched the first 5 white ball numbers but missed Powerball number, which won the second prize. The 2 second prize winning ticket(s) purchased in Florida(1) and Indiana(1) won $1,000,000 cash.
Additional prizes won Wednesday night included 10 tickets that matched 4 white numbers as well as the Powerball and won $10,000. 4 additional tickets of this prize level were also wisely bought with the Power Play option that multiplied winnings 4 times to $40,000 cash! In addition, 324 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers. Those tickets are each worth $100. There were 98 tickets matched 4 white ball with Power Play option, doubled the winnings to a total win of $200 each! 842 tickets matched 3 of the 5 lotto numbers, plus the Powerball number. These tickets are also each worth $100. There were 278 tickets matched 3+1 with Power Play option, doubled the winnings to win a total win of $200 each.
There were 51,410 Powewrball winning tickets sold in the state of New York. There was a single lucky New York winner matched 4 lotto numbers as well as the Powerball and won $10,000. 113 tickets were sold in the state of New York which matched either 4 or 3+1 numbers. The lucky ticket holders will receive $100 each. There were 11 lucky New York players won $200 prize by matching 4 or 3+1 numbers with Power Play purchased.
With nine different prize tiers, the Wednesday night's drawing produced 601,005 winning tickets across the nation with a total amount of $0 prizes.
America's favorite Powerball can be played in 42 states, D.C. and the US Virgin Islands. Powerball drawings occur every Wednesday and Saturday night at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time. Powerball game uses a 5/69+1/26 matrix from which winning numbers are chosen. Each play costs $2. Players can choose to pay 1 extra dollar to buy the Power Play, which increases the original winnings but not jackpot. The odds of winning is about 1 to 32. The chances of matching 6 Powerball numbers are 1 to 292,201,338. The minimum Powerball advertised jackpot starts at $40 million. The annuity option is paid in 30 yearly increment payments. Winners can choose one lump sum cash payout instead.
