Saturday's Powerball jackpot rises to $164,000,000; One second prize ticket sold

With no winner in the last draw, the Powerball lottery jackpot will be worth an estimated $164,000,000 (cash value $$78.8 million) the next time the multistate lottery is played on Saturday. The amount carried over because no player hit all 6 winning numbers to win the $145,000,000 grand prize Wednesday night. The numbers from Wednesday night, January 24th, 2024 were 01, 05, 32, 50, 64 and Powerball was 08.
While the jackpot was not hit Wednesday evening, some players still walked away with large winnings. There was a sole ticket that matched the first five lotto numbers and won the second prize. The one lucky ticket(s) purchased in Wisconsin, each won 1 million dollar cash by matching all 5 white ball numbers.
Additional major winners Wednesday evening included 10 tickets that matched 4 white ball numbers plus the Powerball and won $10,000. 2 additional tickets of this prize level were also wisely bought with the Power Play option that multiplied winnings 4 times to $40,000 cash! Other prizes won Wednesday evening included 147 tickets that matched 4 white ball numbers and won $100. 62 additional players not only matched 4 white ball, but in addition bought the Power Play option, double the winnings to a total win of $200 each! 456 tickets matched 3 of the 5 lotto numbers, plus the Powerball number. These tickets are also each worth $100. There were 160 tickets matched 3+1 with Power Play option, doubled the winnings to win a total win of $200 each.
There were 32,907 Powewrball winning tickets sold in the state of New York. A single ticket sold in New York matched 4 white ball numbers in addition to the Powerball. The lucky ticket holder will receive $10,000 cash. There was a lucky New York winner matched 4 lotto numbers and also the Powerball with Power Play and won $40,000. 67 tickets were sold in the state of New York which matched either 4 or 3+1 numbers. The lucky ticket holders will receive $100 each. There were 16 lucky New Yorkers won $200 prize by matching 4 or 3+1 numbers with Power Play purchased.
With nine ways to win, the Wednesday night's drawing produced 403,823 winning tickets nationwide with a total amount of $0 prizes.
Powerball can be played in 42 states, D.C. and the US Virgin Islands. To play, pick 5 numbers from a set of 69 and select a Powerball number from a set of 26. Each play costs $2. Players can choose to spend 1 extra dollar to purchase the Power Play, which increases the original winnings but not jackpot. The overall odds of winning is about 1 to 32. The odds of winning Powerball grand prize are about 1 in 292 million. The minimum Powerball jackpot starts at $40 million. Its annuity option is paid in 30 yearly increment payments. Winners may select one lump sum cash payout instead.
