Saturday's Powerball jackpot builds to $120,000,000; 1 second prize ticket sold

The jackpot in the Powerball multi-state lottery game has been increased to $120,000,000. The lump-sum cash payout stands at $$59.4 million. The prize amount was rolled over since nobody matched all six numbers in Wednesday's $102,000,000 drawing. The next Powerball game drawing is Saturday night. The numbers from Wednesday night, January 17th, 2024 were 18, 22, 43, 61, 65 and Powerball number was 02.

Although there was no jackpot winner Wednesday evening, Powerball did produce some big winners. There was only one second prize winner from Wednesday night's Powerball drawing, matching the first 5 lotto numbers but not the Powerball number. The one second prize ticket(s) from Virgin Islands matched all 5 white ball numbers and also bought Power Play, which doubled the prize to $2 million cash win!

Additional prizes won Wednesday night included 5 tickets that matched 4 white numbers in addition to the Powerball and won $10,000.

With nine different ways to win, there were 348,396 tickets nationwide won $0 prizes in the Wednesday, January 17th, 2024 drawing.

America's favorite Powerball game can be played in 42 states, D.C. and the US Virgin Islands. Powerball lottery uses a 5/69 (white balls) + 1/26 (Powerballs) system to randomly choose winning numbers. Each play costs $2. Players can choose to pay $1 extra to purchase the Power Play, which increases the winnings but not grand prize. The minimum Powerball jackpot is 40 million dollar. The annuity option is paid in 30 yearly increment payments. Winners may choose one-time lump sum cash payout option instead.
