Saturday's Powerball jackpot rises to $78 million; 1 ticket matched the first five numbers

The Powerball grand prize has jumped up to an estimated $78 million (lump-sum cash payout $57.1 million) for the next drawing in the multistate lottery game Saturday night. The jackpot amount has been carried over because no one hit all 6 winning numbers to take the $66 million jackpot Wednesday night. The winning numbers from Wednesday night, February 17th, 2021 were 01-15-21-32-46 with Power Ball 01. No one won the Powerball jackpot in the past 106 draws since Saturday, February 15th, 2020. The last jackpot was won by a single ticket sold in Michigan, matched all six numbers for a $70.00 million top prize.
While there was no grand prize winner Wednesday evening, Powerball had some big winners. There was a sole second prize winner from Wednesday night's drawing, matching the first five numbers except the Powerball number. The 1 ticket(s) in Pennsylvania matched the first 5 white ball numbers with the Power Play for an incredible $2,000,000 cash win!
Additional prizes won Wednesday night included 1 tickets that matched four white ball numbers as well as the Powerball and won $10,000. There were 3 tickets matched 4+1 with Power Play option, multiplying the prizes by 4 for a total win of $40,000 each!
With nine ways to win, the Wednesday night's drawing produced 409,604 winning tickets nationwide with a total amount of $0 prizes.
America's favorite Powerball can be played in 42 states, D.C. and the US Virgin Islands. Powerball drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday night at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time. Each play costs $2. Players can choose to spend $1 extra to purchase the Power Play, which increases the prizes but not jackpot. The odds of winning any prizes is about 1 to 32. The odds of matching 6 Powerball numbers are about 1 in 292 million. The minimum Powerball jackpot is $40 million. Its annuity option is paid in 30 graduated payments in 29 years. Winners can choose one time lump sum cash payout option instead.
