Powerball jackpot builds to $1,000,000,000 Saturday night; Six second prize tickets sold

No one won Wednesday night's Powerball game drawing, worth $850,000,000, bringing the estimated grand prize on Saturday to $1,000,000,000. The cash option stands at a projected $$453.1 million. The numbers from Wednesday, August 27th, 2025 drawing were 09, 12, 22, 41, 61 with Power Ball number 25.
Even though the jackpot was not awarded Wednesday evening, some people still walked away with huge prizes. There were six second prize winners from Wednesday night's drawing, matching the first 5 lotto numbers except the Powerball number. The three second prize winning ticket(s) bought in AZ(1), NY(1) and VA(1) will collect $1 million cash. The other 3 second prize winner(s) from MS(1), OH(1) and VA(1) also purchased Power Play, which doubled the prize to 2 million dollar cash win!
Other major winners Wednesday evening included 40 tickets that matched four white ball numbers plus the Powerball and won $10,000. There were 10 tickets matched 4+1 with Power Play option, multiplying the winnings by 4 for a total win of $40,000 each!
There were 163,669 Powewrball winning tickets sold in the state of New York. The lucky New York ticket won the second prize was sold from . There were two lucky New York winners matched 4 white ball numbers plus the Powerball and won $10,000. Two tickets sold in New York matched 4 lotto numbers and also the Powerball with Power Play option purchased. These lucky ticket holders will collect $40,000 cash each. There were 330 lucky New York players won $100 prize by matching 4 or 3+1 numbers. 51 tickets were sold in the state of New York which matched either 4 or 3+1 numbers with Power Play. The lucky ticket holders will collect $200 each.
With 9 different prize tiers, the Wednesday night's drawing created 2,261,282 winning tickets nationwide with a total amount of $0 prizes.
Powerball game can be played in 42 states, D.C. and the US Virgin Islands. Powerball game uses a 5/69+1/26 matrix from which winning numbers are chosen. Each play costs $2. Players can choose to pay 1 extra dollar to buy the Power Play option, which increases the original winnings except jackpot. The minimum Powerball advertised grand prize starts at 40 million dollar. The annuity option is paid in 30 yearly increment installments. Winners can choose one time lump-sum cash payout instead.
