Friday's Mega Millions jackpot increases to $62 million; 1 player won the second prize

The Mega Millions multi-state lottery jackpot rised to $62 million (cash value $49.3 million) Friday night when there were no jackpot winning tickets in the $53 million drawing, lottery officials said. The numbers from Tuesday, June 30th, 2020 drawing were 09, 16, 29, 37, 53 and the Mega Ball was 11, Megaplier was 2. No one won the Mega Millions grand prize in the past 699 draws since Friday, October 4th, 2013.A single lucky player from Maryland won the $189 million grand prize in Tuesday, October 1st, 2013 drawing.
Though the grand prize was not hit Tuesday evening, some players still walked away with huge pile of cash. There was a sole lucky player that matched all 5 lotto numbers and won the 2nd prize. The 1 lucky ticket(s) purchased in , each won $1,000,000 cash by matching all 5 white ball numbers.
Other prizes won Tuesday evening included 16 tickets that matched 4 white ball numbers as well as the Mega Ball and won $10,000. Other prizes won Tuesday night included 271 tickets that matched 4 white ball numbers and won $500. Other prizes won included 792 tickets that matched 3 white numbers plus the Mega Ball and won $200.
There were 79,778 Mega Millions winning tickets sold in the state of New York. There were 39889 jackpot winning tickets sold in the state of New York.
With nine different prize tiers, there were 1,104,720 winning tickets sold across U.S. in the Tuesday, June 30th, 2020 drawing.
Mega Millions is a consortium involving 44 state lotteries. It holds the record biggest jackpot of $656 million in U.S. lottery history. Roughly 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back for the players through prizes. Around 15% goes to commission of retailers and lottery operating costs. Approximately 35% total sales is used in government services, education and charities in the member states. Mega Millions drawings are held 2 times a week every Tuesday and Friday night at 10:59 PM Eastern Time. Mega Millions lottery uses a 5/70 (white balls) + 1/25 (Mega Balls) matrix to randomly pick winning numbers. The odds of winning any prizes is about 1 to 14. The odds of winning Mega Millions jackpot are about 1 in 302 million. The minimum Mega Millions advertised grand prize starts at 40 million dollar. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual payments. Winners may select one lump sum cash payout option instead.
